I hope that you...(Owen's Poem)
Hopes, wishes, dreams.
Molding and moving
forming your morals and ideals from
the best parts of him and me;
i hope that you have his crooked smile
and my dimples to match.
Long eyelashes that drive the girls wild,
but sensitivity and honor and the knowledge
that a woman's heart is precious and
not just a toy.
I hope that you have his agile legs
and that you run faster than the wind
when you want to.
I hope that you have my posture,
my balance and poise
and that you carry yourself with confidence.
I hope that you are never afraid
to be the person you are,
to trust your feelings and know
that they will never lead you astray.
I hope that you will forgive us
any mistakes we make in raising you
and allow those lessons to
mold your character in a positive way.
But most of all, I hope that you
have our happiness...
through tantrums and tears
through trials and fears
through thick and thin
and everything in between.
I hope that you love
in the most endearing way
and that you life long, healthy,
strong, and wisely.
Outlasting both him and me,
who were so afraid to have something
so great and be entrusted
to acheive it's perfection.
But, we don't ask for perfection.
We just hope....
that you are happy
and healthy
and loved by everyone else
as much as by him and me,
your mother and your father.
